Seminar-Camp Report (Sapkota Seminar, GSE, Global Studies Course)

 

 

     From January 17 to 19, 2025, we, third-year students of the Sapkota Seminar, held 3 days seminar camp at the Karuizawa Training Center.

 

    On the first day, we gathered at Tokyo Station in the morning and took the Shinkansen to Karuizawa together. The dormitory is about a 15 minutes’ walk from Karuizawa Station.

 

    After we arrived, each of us gave a presentation on our graduation thesis and research proposal, and we received feedback from the professor. This was a great opportunity for everyone to gain new insights into our research.

 

    After receiving feedback, we relaxed and enjoyed the dormitory’s facilities, such as table tennis. In the evening, we went out for dinner, then visited a local hot spring to relax.

 

 

 

    On the second day, we continued with feedback sessions in the morning. Afterward, we drove to the Hoshino area in Karuizawa. We had lunch at Harunire Terrace and then spent some time ice skating. Most students were skating for the first time, but we all had a lot of fun!!

    In the afternoon, we walked around Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza Street, bought souvenirs and snacks.

 

    In the evening, we returned to the dormitory, brought some snacks and drinks, and spent the night talking and getting to know each other deeper. It was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our bonds and grow closer.

 

    On the final day, we reflected on the camp and listened to the professor talk about what’s lay ahead. After spending time at Karuizawa Shopping Plaza, we enjoyed more free time before heading back to Tokyo by Shinkansen. Since many students had exams the following day, we wrapped things up slightly earlier than planned.

Nevertheless, the experiences and memories we created over these three days will be invaluable for our future seminar activities and research.
